A Word from the Mayor
2011 will be an exciting time for New Lynn residents and local businesses.
Work is now underway to create a more pedestrian-friendly town centre, following the opening of the new transport interchange last year. The focus is now on the extension of Clark Street and the development of Totara Avenue West and the Todd Triangle Reserve. Every time I visit New Lynn I am impressed by how hardworking local residents are and how passionate they are about their community. This town centre regeneration project will help New Lynn reinvent itself as an attractive, vibrant and lively place that local residents and businesses can be proud of. The ongoing improvements to streets, with a special focus on pedestrian access and improved public spaces, will raise New Lynn’s regional profile as a retail and employment destination and exciting place to live. We are working closely with Auckland Transport and the Whau Local Board to make this project happen.
